Skin Care Products

The FDA does not regulate what is considered safe for skin care products. There are several harmful chemicals found in over the counter products to help preserve them. Please read below, them pull out your skin care line that you currently use, facial washes, and soaps. You will be amazed!

-Alcohol, Isoproly (SD-40) This drying agent is a common ingredient in many cosmetic products. When used directly on the skin, it strips off the outer most protective layer, exposing the body to bacteria, fungus, and molds. It is derived from petroleum and may promate brown spots or premature aging.
-1,4-dioxane- This is a carcinogen found in many cosmetics and surfactants and used as foaming agents or emulsifiers.
-DEA(diethanoalmine), MEA (Monoethanolamine, TEA (triethanolamine)- Found in personal care cleansers to adjust the PH of the formula. Can cause allergic reactions, eye irritation, dryness, and toxicity if used for a prolonged period of time.
-FD&C Color pigments: These are found in redy Dye #4, 6. Synthetic color pigments are made from coal tar, which is found in cigarettes. They contain heavy metal slats that leave toxic by products on the skin. These chemicals have been tested on animals and found to cause cancer.
-Mineral Oil- Also called liquid parrafinum, this is a byproduct of petroleum that coats the skin like plastic. This causes premature aging.
-Paraben preservatives (methyl, proply, butyl, and ethyl)- These chemicals are often used in cosmetic formulas to inhibit microbial formation and extend of shelf life of the make up products. They are commonly used in commercial applications even though they are known to be highly toxic and cause allergic reactions and skin rashes
-Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate- This is found in detergents, and when combined with other ingredients, form nitrosating agents and have a carcinogenic effect on the body.
